Vermont Woods Studios is a new kind of furniture company. Peggy and Ken Farabaugh started the mission-driven company because they wanted to help save the rainforest right from where they live in Vermont. Rainforest land is often clear cut for timber that’s used to make furniture, destroying precious animal habitats across the globe – and they knew they had to do something about it.
VWS focuses on custom, handmade furniture made from eco-friendly wood sustainably harvested from local and regional North American forests. Their handcrafted furniture is 100% made in America, right here in the Green Mountain State. Maple, cherry, walnut, and oak. Because VWS is so confident in their pieces, all of their furniture comes with a lifetime warranty.
Restarting Growth Through Digital
Vermont Woods Studios contacted me when they were tired of hiring inexperienced marketing managers. They were experiencing reduced (yearly) revenue and stalled growth. This partnership included both marketing and technology leadership, business strategy and even some management consulting. In the first year, we overhauled their Google Ads (paid search), improved their Social Media (Facebook, Instagram), redesigned various sections of the website and improved communication between various teams. We ultimately increased annual sales 22% year over year. It was in that moment, we changed the path of the company.
Handcrafting A New E-Commerce Experience
First impressions are everything. Which is why a powerful, mobile-optimized and user-friendly homepage is crucial for any brand. From implementing new product filters, and then rebuilding site search with Apache Solr search and ultimately with Swiftype/Elastic Search, all the way through a full redesign of their checkout flow we reinvented Vermont Wood Studios’ website from the ground up.
